If there is one thing we should know as believers, it is the fact that we have all the power and authority we need to shape the world and our life.
Its important for us to know and understanding what Authority is and How to exercise authority as believers.
But it’s interesting to know that an average Christian don’t even know what the word authority is let alone how to exercise it. This is evident in the way we react to things, challenges and circumstances.
An average believer when faced with a challenge will always run to the pastor or their spiritual head for guidance and protection. Its important to have a spiritual head and someone who gives you spiritual guidance and covering.
But I want you to know that you also carry in you the power and authority to solve problems and be a solution to people. I guess you have heard that you are the light of the word. You are a solution package to the world.
In this article am going to expose you to the basic things you need to exercise authority as a believer. When I talk about the things you need to exercise authority, most people start thinking about fasting and prayer.
If you must know, fasting and prayer is essential for believers, but believe it or not they are not the basic things you need to exercise your authority as a believer. But before I talk about how you can exercise authority; I will like you to first understand the difference between power and authority.
AUTHORITY VS POWER.
I don’t start talking about authority or power without explaining the difference between the two. For more insight, you can read my article #2 Reasons Satan Is Not Afraid of Your Anointing And Power. There is also a video attached that will help you greatly.
Never confuse power with Authority. Authority is not power and power is not authority. They are similar but not the same. Power is Ability, force, energy, might strength, etc.
The bible sometimes calls it anointing. Authority is; Right, permission etc.
Authority is simply the legal right to use power. You can have power but would not have authority. This was evident in Exodus 7:8-12 when Moses and Aaron went before Pharoah to seek the freedom of the Israelite’s.
Aaron dropped his staff and it became snake which was a display of power. As you know Pharaoh’s magicians did the same. However, the difference between Aaron and Pharaoh’s magicians was that Aaron and Moses came in authority.
That was why their snake ate up the snake of Pharaoh’s magicians. The magicians had power but power is no match for authority.
Pharaoh’s action of calling the magicians shows that the devil is not scared of power. The devil is not scared of power, I repeat. I want to urge you to read this article #2 Reasons Satan Is Not Afraid of Your Anointing And Power.
Exodus 7:8-10:13 (NIV);
- “The Lord said to Moses and Aaron
9. “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”
- So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.
- Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:
- Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs”.
