LIVING AN EXTRAVAGANT LIFESTYLE
One major reason why people are struggling today financially is that they love to waste resources. And the truth is that what you waste cannot multiply. It is a little drop of water that makes a mighty ocean. You cannot grow if you continue to live a wasteful lifestyle -John 6:8-12;
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
God hates waste.
Don’t bite more than you can chew. A lot of people are where they are today because of their wasteful life. And the truth is that God cannot trust you with a bigger possession if you live a wasteful lifestyle because if you cannot manage the little you have, you cannot handle the much you want.
Proverbs 21:20 says; “there is a treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man devours it up.
No one makes it to the top by living a wasteful lifestyle. Don’t buy things because you have to buy If you want God you, trust you with His wealth you have to avoid or stop living a wasteful life. God cannot trust you with big possession if you are living a wasteful life.
LACK OF PLAN.
It will be difficult for you to win the race against poverty if you don’t have a plan. Financial plan instills financial discipline. Good planning brings good results and lack of planning most times leads to frustration. Consider what God said in -Luke 14:28;
“For which of you desiring to build a tower, does not sit down and count the cost, whether he has the enough to complete it”.
To fulfill your potentials and achieve your purpose in life you must develop that habit of planning. Planning makes it easier for you to achieve your goals and dreams. Alan Lakein remarked; “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it” Learn to plan and you will see things working out well for you, things you thought was hard will become easier because strategically, you have conquered it. Planning gives you that opportunity to know what to do at the right time.
Most people are struggling because they don’t have a plan, they are just living their life the way they want, but the truth of the matter is that they are not just living their life they are living in ignorance.
Planning gives your life a direction and a man without direction is lost. I agree with Antoine de Saint-Exupery; “a goal without a plan is just a wish”.
Isaiah 23:8 says; “But he who is noble plans noble things, and on noble things he stands”
Start by having a proper financial plan and every other thing will follow. If you have a financial plan any money that comes your way will be channeled and used according to your plan. The difference between the poor and the rich is that the rich have financial plans but the poor don’t. The rich know where any money is going even before it comes. God loves a planner, -Proverbs 16:9 says; “the heart of man plans his way, but God directs his steps. If you can start planning today, everything will change for you and you will live a happy life.
LIVING A LUXURIOUS LIFESTYLE.
Another major reason why people are struggling financially is that they are living above their means. You cannot expect to make it to the top if you are earning $100 USD and you are living a life of $1,000 USD, it does not work that way. You cannot expect to be wealthy when you are living in a one-bedroom rented apartment and you are driving a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, Lamborghini, and Bugatti, Ferrari F60, Rolls Royce or any other porch car. I love what Calvin Coolidge said; “there is no dignity quite so impressive, and no one independence quite so important, as living within your means”.
If you want to prosper, stop living a luxurious lifestyle. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:5; “let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with the things you have. For He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you”.
If you want things to change for you, you have to change the way you live your life. Most of us waste our hard earned money to buy something we don’t want to buy just to impress someone that we don’t love. If you want to have a major turnaround in your life and your finance you have to work on yourself. I agree with Edmond Maka; “Some friends would persuade you to buy a lot of materialistic things, but won’t give you a single dine if you were to find yourself in a financial crisis”.
So be very careful my dear friends and stay clear of people who push you to live beyond your means. They are definitely not in your life to favor your destiny”.
GIVING WITH IMPURE MOTIVE:
“And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart” – 2Chronicles 25:2
A lot of people give but they still find it difficult to prosper because of the attitude and manner in which they give. God said; Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, shall men give to your bosom “. – Luke 6:38.
A lot of us have failed to tap into the blessings attached to giving because we don’t give with the right motives. Some of us give not because we want to give but because we have to give.
Pastor Francis K.D Jonah the head pastor of Bridge Family Chapel said in one of his teachings “if you want to give, give out of love”. Most people give because they are compelled to give and if you are that way, you are just wasting your money or if I may put it this way, you are not giving with a purpose and you cannot tap into the blessings attached to giving.
I love what the Bible said in -2 Corinthian 9:7; “Every man should according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver”.
This scripture means that, when you want to give, give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion. If you want to give and you know that you are not doing it out of love, I advise that you don’t give until you find that love. If you want your cup to overflow, give with the right attitude, give with love and you shall experience a positive overflow and wealth in your life.
The type of attitude you carry when you want to give is very important. Learn to have a positive attitude when you want to give and you will see things changing for you.
“And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar”. – 1kings 3:3-4kjv
Never give because you have to give, especially when giving to God or the needy. The Bible says in -Proverbs 19:17 ” Whoever is generous to the poor lend to the lord and he will repay him for his deeds”. Don’t give because you want to impress anyone, give because you want to give and do it out of love. And if you do so, your reward will manifest. As far as I know, God is not a man that He should lie and His promises to us are yes and Amen. Psalm 138:2 says that God has magnified His word above His name. He does whatever He says. Therefore when giving, give with the right motive, attitude, and mindset then you shall see the promises of God becoming a reality.
Oxford dictionary defined misconception as; “a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding.
A lot of us are suffering today because of misconceptions. Most of us are struggling financially because we have been taught that the love of money is the root of all evil. This ideology of money is common everywhere, both in Churches and schools and we accept that concept as a fact.
You cannot attract wealth if your mind keeps telling you that money is evil. Hear his and hear it well; there is no bad money; we only have bad people who use their money to do evil. Money, as far as I know, is not moral, immoral but amoral. Money takes your nature, money will never go out on its own to do evil, money will not move if you don’t move it.
One thing that surprises me is that, we all think money is the root of all evil, but we spend almost all our life working to have it. We have been taught that the love of money is the root of all evil -Timothy, but our teachers and advisors ignored the passage that says “my people perish for lack of knowledge”. -Hosea 4:6. A lot of people are suffering economically because they lack knowledge. For most of us, what we know is the cause of our problems.
Most of us what we know is that money does not bring happiness and if you continue that way there is no way you will be able to attract wealth.
Another popular and wrong concept is that; “a bird in hand is better than two in the bush”. That concept and ideology are very wrong, that is a poor and lazy man’s ideology.
That concept is for people who are comfortable with the way they are. You use that ideology, not as a motto, but as a form of motivation to someone who wants to start something with the little he has, not for a way of getting him to settle on that because there is always room for improvements.
If you want more you simply have to do more. Why will a bird in hand be better than two in the bush, why can’t you have more than one? What if the one you are holding dies? Is that when you will go to the bush and hunt for more? That is the attitude of great procrastinators. If you keep thinking that the $1000 in your bank account is better than the billions out there then you are approaching financial doom.
Why will I settle for a plate of rice when I know I can get the full pot? If you want something, go after it, work towards it, and don’t settle for less.
A lot of us know we can have more than we currently possess in a genuine way, but we have chosen to settle with the little we have because of misconceptions. Note this: if you think you have a loaf of bread, don’t forget that someone has the bakery.
Be positive about everything. Don’t let what you know push you out of your throne. Money is like electricity, it gives you light, but if you put your hand, it will shock and even kill you.
But because electricity shocked you or killed someone does not mean electricity is bad. It is the same with money, it is not bad, but our application and wrong use of it makes it worse.
If you apply it wrong, it becomes evil. Forget what people think about money, just go after it in a good way and with a positive attitude and use it well to the glory of God.
